Mahmood Al Zarooni

Trainer

Mahmood was appointed as trainer to the powerful Godolphin Team in March of 2010 and quickly stamped himself as a top conditioner when he won the Godolphin Mile on the Dubai World Cup program with Calming Influence, his first runner. In a short period he has added classic wins by Blue Bunting in the 1000 Guineas and Darley Irish Oaks, as well as high profile victories in the Prince of Wales and Dubai Sheema Classic with Rewindling. 2012 kicked off in the highest fashion for Al Zarooni by capturing the Dubai World Cup with Monterosso for Godolphin. Prior to becoming one of the head trainers for Godolphin he served as assistant to their head conditioner, Saeed bin Suroor.

Godolphin

Owner

Godolphin is a global racing operation founded by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, prime minister and ruler of Dubai. In 1996 he founded the Dubai World Cup which currently ranks as the world's richest race. Godolphin has won the Dubai World Cup five times including a win by Horse of the Year Invasor who captured the Breeders Cup Classic as well. They were named Eclipse champion owner in 2009 and consistently are among the top stables throughout Europe. Other top runners include Belmont Stakes winner Jazil, Daylami, Dubai Millenium, Street Cry, Fantastic Light, Tempera, Regal Ransom and Discreet Cat. Sheikh Mohammed also races under the Darley Stable banner.

Pedigree

Certify is by leading sire Elusive Quality out of the Doc’s Leader mare Please Sign In, who was a multiple Grade 3-placed stakes scorer while on track.

Elusive Quality himself was a dual Grade 3 winner and track record setter, but has found much more success in the breeding shed.

Elusive Quality’s offspring include the likes of champion Smarty Jones, who captured the 2004 runnings of the Kentucky Derby and Preakness; four-time Grade 1 king Quality Road; and Breeders’ Cup Classic upsetter Raven’s Pass.

Please Sign In also triumphed following her track exploits.

The bay mare’s first registered foal is Grade 1 winner Cry and Catch Me, and Certify is herself a Group 1 winner in England, where she is more than likely to spend her three-year-old campaign.
