Kathmanblu is a daughter of multiple stakes victress Abba Gold, who is a half-sister to Grade 1 heroine Friendly Michelle (Artax)

Last year’s Comely S. (G3) second Speightful Affair (Speightstown) is also from this female line

Kathmanblu’s dam sire is Devil’s Bag (Halo), the 1983 champion two-year-old colt and winner of that year’s Champagne S. (G1) and Laurel Futurity (G1)

Other daughters of Devil’s Bag have produced the likes of Grade 1 king Balto Star (Glitterman), who captured the 2001 Arkansas Derby (G2) and Sprial S. (G2)
