He made his first appearance in the Run for the Roses in 2008 with Colonel John finishing sixth. One of his most notable wins to date was training WinStar Farm’s Well Armed to a record breaking 14-length victory in the Dubai World Cup in 2009.

Liberty Girl is a daughter of dual Grade 2 victor A. P. Warrior out of Grade 1-placed stakes winner Champagne Glow.
A. P. Warrior won on both turf and dirt, taking the Grade 2 San Felipe on Santa Anita’s main track before rounding out his career with a win in the Grade 2 La Jolla Handicap and a third in the Grade 2 Oak Tree Derby, both on the green in California.
The dark bay ran worse than fourth just twice in his 13-race career, with one of those coming as a subpar effort in the 2006 Kentucky Derby.
The stallion has seen three crops compete thus far, including last year’s Grade 2 Hutcheson victor Thunder Moccasin and this year’s Grade 2 Jerome runner-up Siete de Oros.
Champagne Glow didn’t find the same kind of success on track as A. P. Warrior, but the chestnut mare did finish second in the Grade 1 Frizette during her juvenile campaign.
Champagne Glow has done much better in the breeding shed, having already produced Grade 1 winners Champagne d’Oro and Ruler on Ice. The former captured a pair of Grade 1s while the latter upset the 2011 Belmont Stakes at 24-1.
Ruler on Ice would go on to place in the Grade 1 Haskell Invitational, Grade 2 Penn Derby and Breeders’ Cup Classic during his sophomore campaign, and came back this year with a season-opening win at Aqueduct.
Liberty Girl’s second dam is Grade 3 victress Champagne Ginny, who in addition to Champagne Glow also foaled dual Grade 1 hero Grand Canyon and Italian Group 1 scorer Jurado.
