Terranova learned about horses from his father who owned horse for many years. While attending Boston College, Terranvoa decided to take a leave of absence to become an assistant trainer and never returned to school. He took out his training license in 1993 and has trained graded stakes winners Laragh, Negligee, Gander, and Franny Freud.
