Terranova learned about horses from his father who owned horse for many years. While attending Boston College, Terranvoa decided to take a leave of absence to become an assistant trainer and never returned to school. He took out his training license in 1993 and has trained graded stakes winners Laragh, Negligee, Gander, and Franny Freud.

Covello, who works as a stock researcher analyst at Goldman Sachs, was introduced to horse racing by his wife Terri. The two frequently attend racing with their three children at Saratoga race Course which is near their home. Covello has 10 horses in training with different partners and all are trained by John Terranova II. Judy Hicks and Kathryn Nikkel are the co-breeders of Lilacs and Lace and the two are proud owners of Lilcas and Lace’s full sister.
