Pedigree

Oaks Lily has the perfect name for a Kentucky Oaks winner, and comes from a female family that has already produced a third-place finisher in the race. That one was Sneaky Quiet, who ran in the 1995 Kentucky Oaks and is a half-sister to Oaks Lily’s dam, En Silence.

Oaks Lily is by Badge of Silver, who started his racing career in brilliant fashion when taking his first three starts by a combined 26 lengths. Included among those wins was a 10-length triumph in the Risen Star Stakes. However, the dark bay ran fifth in the Louisiana Derby next out and it was soon discovered he had flipped his palate in the race.

While training for his next start in the Blue Grass Stakes, Badge of Silver fractured a cannon bone, knocking him off the Triple Crown Trail and out of competition for the remainder of his three-year-old campaign. He returned as a four-year-old and would go on to score a pair of Grade 2 triumphs.

Badge of Silver once again took an extended break during his six-year-old season, but returned from a 10-month layoff to finish out his career with placings in the Breeders’ Cup Mile and Cigar Mile.

Oaks Lily is from her sire’s second crop, from which Group 1 winner Fly Lexis Fly and recent Transylvania Stakes hero Silver Max have also sprung.

Oaks Lily’s fourth dam is the Rough’n Tumble mare Treasure Chest, who is best known as a full sister to champion My Dear Girl. More recent offspring from her talent-laden female line includes Zanzibar, who captured the Italian Oaks in 2001.

Oaks Lily’s dam is by Rahy, and Badge of Silver’s sire, Silver Deputy, has already been responsible for Grade 2-winning top sire Posse when crossed with a Rahy mare.
