Power Lady is by Discreet Cat out of the winning Defensive Play mare Lady in Power, making her a half-sister to Grade 1-placed stakes heroine Grace and Power.

Lady in Power has done well in the breeding shed but didn’t show much on track while Discreet Cat is accomplished in both areas.

From just two crops to race, the Grade 1-winning stallion’s progeny already includes Grade 2 victress Mamma Kimbo and Grade 3 hero Out of Bounds, who was runner-up in the Group 2 Al Maktoum Challenge Round 1 in Dubai January.

Discreet Cat was also successful overseas, taking the Group 2 UAE Derby, and earned nearly $1.7 million while racing.

Lady in Power never came close to those numbers, but the mare’s female family more than makes up for that. She is a half-sister to stakes vixen Lovat’s Lady, who in turn is the granddam of Grade 2 scorer Apart.

Power Lady’s fourth dam is the black-type producing Secretariat mare Lady Winborne, who is herself a half-sister to French Horse of the Year and all-time great racemare Allez France.
