Promise Me More is by Grade 1 hero More Than Ready, and could enhance her sire’s reputation with a win in the Kentucky Oaks.
More Than Ready has already made a name for himself in Australia, siring back-to-back juvenile champions in 2008-09.
Among his offspring to compete in the United States are Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint victor Regally Ready, who is a Grade 1 winner in Canada; Grade 1 Mother Goose vixen Buster’s Ready; and the 2010 winners of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf and Juvenile Fillies Turf -- Pluck and More Than Real, respectively.
The dark bay stallion first found success on track, taking the Grade 1 King’s Bishop and finishing second in the Blue Grass and Vosburgh, both Grade 1s, in 2000.
More Than Ready also finished fourth in that year’s Kentucky Derby and Grade 1 Haskell Invitational, as well as fifth in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint.
Promise Me More also gets plenty of class from her damside as the first registered foal out of the stakes-winning Broken Vow mare Aly’s Vow.
Her third dam is multiple Grade 2 queen Sweetest Chant, who foaled Grade 2 victress Danzig’s Beauty. That mare would go on in the breeding shed to produce leading sire and multiple Grade 2 hero Distorted Humor
This female family is also responsible for Never Retreat, Canada’s Horse of the Year and champion turf female in 2011, and farther back one can find 1967 Kentucky Oaks runner-up Gay Sailorette.
