Albertrani made his way to the backstretch at age 13 when he walked and groomed horses for his uncle. He began his career as an assistant for top trainers Jack Van Berg, LeRoy Jolley, Saeed bin Suroor, and Bill Mott. Albertrani went out on his own in 2003 and in 2006 moved into the national spotlight when he trained 3-year old champion Bernardini. Other notable stakes winners he has trained are Odysseus, Deputy Glitters, and Gozzip Girl.
West Point Thoroughbreds
WestPoint Thoroughbreds is a racing syndicate named by founder Terry Finley as a tribute to his alma mater, West Point. Finley earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering and has a GPA that he jokes we "closer to the bottom than the top." Finley served 8 years as an artillery officers in the Army attaining the rank of Captain before his honorable discharge in 1994. West Point has campaigned Grade 1 winners such as Awesome Gem, Dream Rush, Flashy Bull, Irish Smoke, Lear's Princess, and Macho Again.
Congrats--Ponderway, by Prized
Toasting is by Grade 2-winning sire Congrats out of the Prized mare Ponderway, who never tried stakes company in 29 career starts.
Congrats has already sired a trio of top-class fillies in Grade 1 divas Turbulent Descent, Wickedly Perfect and Emma’s Encore.
Ponderway herself has produced dual stakes victor Riversrunrylee.
Toasting’s third dam, the Graustark mare Quilloquick, is a half-sister to Grade 2 victor Fifth Marine and multiple Grade 2-placed stakes vixen Halloween Queen.
Among Quilloquick’s many notable descendants are English champion and Group 1 Irish One Thousand Guineas heroine Forest Flower; successful Grade 1-winning sire High Yield; Grade 1 scorer Warrior’s Reward; and multiple Grade 2 veteran Miss Golden Circle.
