Bob Baffert

Hall of Fame conditioner Bob Baffert won the Kentucky Derby back-to-back in 1997 and 1998 with Silver Charm and Real Quiet, and again in 2002 with War Emblem. He has saddled 24 horses in the Run for the Roses through 2014. The silver-haired trainer has also captured the Preakness Stakes a record-tying five times and earned the Eclipse Award for outstanding trainer three times. Baffert has saddled two Kentucky Oaks winners, Silverbulletday and Plum Pretty. In total, he has sent out the winners of nine Triple Crown races and 10 Breeders’ Cup events.

Kaleem Shah, Inc.

Kaleem Shah resides in Virginia and founded CalNet, an information technology company. His family was involved in the top echelon of horse racing in India where his father, Majeed, won the Indian Triple Crown and his uncle Saeed won the Indian Derby twice. His father however insisted the children concentrate on education and did not encourage Kaleem to spend time at the race track. But horse racing was in his blood and Kaleem entered the business in 1996 primarily racing on the east coast. He met trainer Bob Baffert at the horse sales and the two have had a great deal of success with many of their purchases. Shah has about 30 horses in training and currently campaigns Kentucky Derby prospect Fed Biz as well. Other stable stars have included May Day Rose, Irrefutable, Concorde Point and Smash.

Awesome Again--Miss Attractive, by Running Stag

Download Full Pedigree (PDF)

Awesome Baby is by Breeders’ Cup Classic-winning multi-millionaire and leading sire Awesome Again, whose son Game On Dude became the first to win three editions of the Santa Anita Handicap on March 8.

Game On Dude isn’t even Awesome Again’s top offspring. That honor would probably have to go to fellow sire , Classic winner and 2004 Horse of the Year Ghostzapper.

Awesome Again has also sired, just to name a few, champion older mare Ginger Punch; Grade 1-scorning multi-millionaire Awesome Gem; Breeders’ Cup winners Wilko and Round Pond; last year’s Preakness victor Oxbow; and 2012 Haskell Invitational winner and Belmont Stakes runner-up Paynter.

Awesome Baby’s dam, the Running Stag mare Miss Attractive, hasn’t achieved quite the same success but her female family does include 1972 English champion two-year-old colt Noble Decree.
