Ian R. Wilkes


Ian Wilkes grew up on a dairy farm in New South Wales, Australia, and started his racing career at 16 as a groom and exercise rider.  He worked in Australian stables before arriving to the United States to gallop horses and assist trainer Carl Nafzger.  Wilkes now resides in Louisville, Kentucky and has several famouse wins including 2007 Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense, Stakes winner Captain Candy Man, and 2012 Breeders' Cup Classic winner Fort Larned.

Marylou Whitney Stables


Marylou Whitney is a philanthropist and socialite with residences in New York, Florida and Kentucky.  Whitney was introduced to horse racing by her second husband, Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney, whose family was a major force in thoroughbred racing.  In 2011, Marylou Whitney was awarded the Eclipse Award of Merit for a lifetime of outstanding achievement in thoroughbred racing.  She is a major contributor to the Secretariat Center at the Kentucky Horse Park, and a founding member of the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation, supporting many efforts to find new careers for horses after their racing days.
