Hill 'n' Dale Equine Holdings, Inc. and Philip J. Steinberg
Hill 'n' Dale Equine Holdings is the racing arm of Hill 'n' Dale Farm, a full-service breeding and sales operation. Owned by John G. Sikura, a former collegiate and professional ice hockey player, the farm was incorporated in Lexington, Kentucky in 1987;. Hill 'n' Dale serves as a final resting place for the legendary stallion and 1977 Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew.
Got Lucky is by Horse of the Year A.P. Indy, who sired fellow Horse of the Year Mineshaft as well as classic-winning champion Bernardini, both of whom are productive stallions in their own right.
A.P. Indy suffered just three losses during his 11-race career, and along the way captured the Belmont Stakes and BC Classic.
The highly successful stallion has many top notch offspring, but a few of his more prominent fillies include champion Rags to Riches, who triumphed in both the Kentucky Oaks and Belmont Stakes in 2009; BC Juvenile Fillies champion Tempera; multiple Grade 1 queen Music Note; and 2000 Kentucky Oaks victress Secret Status.
Got Lucky’s dam is the Deputy Minister mare Malka, who is herself a daughter of Grade 3 victress Get Lucky.
Get Lucky has proven quite productive in the breeding shed, foaling Grade 1 winner Girolamo, Grade 2 heroine Daydreaming and Grade 3 victor Accelerator, all of whom are by A.P. Indy.
Get Lucky is most notable for being the grandam of 2010 Kentucky Derby conqueror Super Saver and Bluegrass Cat, who placed in the 2006 Kentucky Derby, Belmont and Travers while capturing that year’s Haskell Invitational.
Get Lucky is a full sister to champion two-year-old colt Rhythm, with both being out of Grade 1 diva Dance Number.
Got Lucky’s fourth dam is champion two-year-old filly Numbered Account.
