John Sadler’s first starter in the Kentucky Derby was in 1993 with Corby. In 2010, he had two starters in the Run for the Roses in Line of David and Sidney’s Candy who both finished off the board. John has won training titles at Hollywood Park, Santa Anita, Del Mar, and Oak Tree at Santa Anita. He rode show horses growing up, but began his career at the racetrack in high school. John was an assistant for David Hofmans and Eddie Gregson before taking out his trainer’s license in 1979.
Hronis Racing, LLC
Kostra Hronis started Hronis Racing Satble in 2010 under the guidance of trainer John Sadler and found immediate success with stable star Lady of Shamrock. She captured both the 2012 American and Del Mar Oaks. Hronis Racing was a leading owner during the Santa Anita 2012 winter and spring race meet.
Afleet Alex--Concinnous, by El Corredor
Iotapa is by champion sire Afleet Alex, who just missed sweeping the Triple Crown in 2005 when a length third in the Kentucky Derby.
The bay would go on to romp in the Preakness and Belmont Stakes, and was retired following those races having also collected trophies for the Grade 1 Hopeful as a juvenile and Grade 2 Arkansas Derby at three.
Afleet Alex has found just as much success at stud, siring Grade 1 victors Dublin and Afleet Express, as well as numerous graded scorers.
Iotapa’s dam, the El Corredor mare Concinnous, never reached that level while racing, instead sticking to the allowance ranks.
Concinnous has done well for herself in the breeding shed, as Iotapa is her first registered foal and suffered her first loss when a game second in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Oaks.
Iotapa’s fourth dam is Grade 1 winner Alma North, and this female family is also responsible for Group 2 heroine Dixie Ready.
