Ignacio Correas IV
Ignacio Correas IV was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina where he has been working with horses his entire life, and where his family has been involved with Thoroughbred training since 1876. Correas joined the Sagamore Racing team as the lease trainer in 2009, and brings vast experience from his international horse training career.
Sagamore Farm, established in 1925, is located in Glyndon, Maryland. Throughout its existence, Sagamore has been internationlly recognized as a premier breeding and training facility for thoroughbred horses; even the Queen of England kept a broodmare at Sagamore during the mid-1900s. Sagamore's most notable equine was Native Dancer - a horse that won 21 races out of the 22 that he raced, including wins in the Preakness and Belmont Stakes in 1953. The farm is currently operated by Kevin Plank, a native of Maryland and the CEO and founder of Under Armour. Plank acquired Sagamore in May 2007.
Walkwithapurpose is by unbeaten Argentine champion Candy Ride out of the stakes-placed Broad Brush mare Lightning Lydia.
Candy Ride was already a star in his native Argentina before coming to the United States and boosting his reputation with a win in the Grade 1 Pacific Classic and Grade 2 American Handicap.
The bay has found just as much success in the breeding shed by siring the likes of Misremembered, Sidney’s Candy and Twirling Candy, just to name a few of his Grade 1-winning offspring.
Walkwithapurpose began her career, like her dam, in Maryland but did a bit better than Lightning Lydia by romping in three straight stakes events. Lightning Lydia didn’t break her maiden until transferring to Turf Paradise, which turned out to be her only win.
The bay mare has done better as a broodmare, foaling Walktwithapurpose as well as her half-siblings stakes victress Charged Cotton and stakes-placed Go Marie Tu.
Lightning Lydia is herself a full sister to multiple Grade 1 hero and sire Schossberg, and this female family has also produced Canadian Horse of the Year and multiple champion Kennedy Road.
