First Lady of Oaks
For Kentucky Oaks 138, Churchill Downs will again select a celebrity ambassador to serve as the First Lady of Oaks. This esteemed lady will represent the Oaks brand and help us promote the event and the special causes it supports.
In 2011, renowned fashion designer Betsey Johnson served as the First Lady of Oaks. In this role, she also served as a celebrity judge for our Fashion Contest and participated in the Survivors Parade walk. Nancy G. Brinker was chosen as the inaugural First Lady of Oaks. Her role as founder and now president of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® has been monumental and truly inspiring. Brinker started the charity in 1982 when she promised her sister, Susan G. Komen who lost her fight with breast cancer, that she would do everything possible to eliminate breast cancer.
This year’s First Lady of Oaks has not yet been chosen, so stayed tuned to find out what extraordinary woman will help represent the Kentucky Oaks in 2012!
