What to Expect if You Participate in the Oaks 136 Survivors Parade

Parade preparation will begin at approximately 4 p.m. EDT with the parade itself commencing at approximately 5 p.m. as part of the Bravo telecast of pre-race activities.  The the entire procession will take approximately 1.5 hours from the time survivors assemble at the designated place until the parade itself has been completed. The parade route is a ¼- mile walk along the outer edge of Churchill Downs' dirt track, from the middle of the mile chute near the stable area around the track's signature first turn and up the homestretch in front of fans situation in the track's clubhouse area.

After the parade, survivors will cross the dirt track onto the turf course for a group photo and then return to their seats to watch the Oaks race (you’ll have a great view!).

During the parade, survivors will be walking on a dirt track, and we highly recommend wearing rain boots or protective shoes with flat soles.  High-heeled shoes are NOT recommended!

The parade will take place rain or shine, and in the event of inclement weather, Churchill Downs will provide pink ponchos for participants.  The track does not permit umbrellas inside the racing facility on Kentucky Oaks and Derby Days.
