Survivors Parade Nomination Information
Nominate Someone You Know
Nominations open Friday, Feb. 24
This year, participants for the Kentucky Oaks 137 Survivors Parade presented by Kroger will be nominated by the public and chosen by fans. Beginning Feb. 24 and continuing through March 18 at 5 p.m. EDT, you can nominate a breast cancer survivor for the Survivors Parade by filling out the online nomination form. Tell Oaks fans what inspires you about the survivor you are nominating, and share why your nominee should represent other survivors in this memorable part of the Oaks experience. Both female and male nominees are welcome, and you may nominate yourself. For the first time, guests may also submit an "In Memoriam" nomination to salute the memory of an individual who lost their courageous battle with breast cancer.
Nomination information will be shared with Oaks fans online at www.KentuckyOaks.com and then fans will be allowed to vote on the 137 survivors who will participate in the Survivors Parade on May 6 at Churchill Downs.
Additionally, the chosen survivors will receive tickets for two (2) reserved seats to the Kentucky Oaks (Section 224) as well as a lunch sponsored by Churchill Downs and Levy Restaurants. (Travel and hotel accommodations are not included.)

What to Expect if You Participate in the Oaks 137 Survivors Parade
Parade preparation will begin at approximately 4 p.m. EDT with the parade itself commencing at approximately 5 p.m. as part of the Versus telecast of pre-race activities. The the entire procession will take approximately 1.5 hours from the time survivors assemble at the designated place until the parade itself has been completed. The parade route is a ¼- mile walk along the outer edge of Churchill Downs' dirt track, from the top of the stretch and down the homestretch in front of fans situated in the track's clubhouse area.
After the parade, survivors will return to their seats to watch the Oaks race!
During the parade, survivors will be walking on a dirt track, and we highly recommend wearing rain boots or protective shoes with flat soles. High-heeled shoes are NOT recommended!
The parade will take place rain or shine, and in the event of inclement weather, Churchill Downs will provide pink ponchos for participants. The track does not permit umbrellas inside the racing facility on Kentucky Oaks and Derby Days.
