Recap

Flashy Dresser lived up to his 9-5 favoritism in the $75,000 Rushaway Stakes on Saturday at Turfway Park, grabbing the lead heading into the turn and just holding on for a half-length score under jockey Luis Contreras. The Flashy Bull colt ran 1 1/16 miles on the Polytrack in 1:45 2/5 for trainer Fred Seitz, returning $5.60, $3.80 and $3 to his backers.

Flashy Dresser was content to bide his time in third as Dynamical set opening marks of :24 4/5 and :49 4/5, but made his move soon after to take a short head lead over Gung Ho as the pacesetter began fading. Those two battled around the turn and into the stretch, with Flashy Dresser just keeping his narrow advantage. The duel continued throughout the lane but Flashy Dresser would not be denied in his stakes bow.

The chestnut colt captured his maiden debut by 6 3/4 lengths at Gulfstream Park while going six furlongs on March 4, and returned here just 20 days later to move his line to a perfect two-for-two. Flashy Dresser also boosted his career earnings to $73,065 with this victory, just earning back his purchase price of $70,000 as a Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July yearling.

Out of the winning Two Punch mare Saltnvinegar, Flashy Dresser is his dam's first stakes scorer. His fourth dam is the Hand to Hand mare Perfect Hand, who is the granddam of 1986 champion Brave Raj.
