The Kentucky Derby is the longest continually run sporting event in the world. This iconic event happens every first Saturday in May and tends to be a “bucket list” item for many – including some of the most beloved celebrities, royal family members, and athletes. There have been many famous names that have spent Derby Day under the Twin Spires. 

In 2007, Churchill Downs created a new Kentucky Derby tradition by introducing a special Red Carpet entrance for VIP attendees and their guests. This year, NBC will provide televised coverage of the red carpet allowing fans around the world the chance to see these celebrities make their way into the most legendary racetrack.

7. Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon (1974) – 100th running of the Kentucky Derby

So what celebrities can we expect at the 149th Kentucky Derby? American rapper, singer, and songwriter Arcángel will be in attendance this year. Former NFL Hall of Famer, Emmitt Smith and Yellowstone’s Ian Bohen will be in attendance as well. We also can’t forget our amazing national anthem singers for both Oaks and Derby Day, Rachel Platten and Grammy® Award Winning Carly Pearce.
