Dial Me won for the first time on Sunday at Ellis Park - and it was only her second race. What’s so special about Dial Me? She’s owned by the Churchill Downs Racing Club. What’s the Churchill Downs Racing Club? It’s a new program where regular folks can see what it’s like to own a race horse. There are two clubs at Churchill Downs, each with 200 members. One owns 2-year old filly Dial Me and the other owns a 2-year old colt named Warrior’s Club. Both horses are trained by the famed 4-time Derby winning trainer D. Wayne Lukas. If you’re a member of one of the clubs, you get to do what real horse owners do – you get to watch your horse train at the track, receive updates from the trainer, enter the Paddock Area before your horse races, hang out with other horse owners and celebrate in the winner’s circle when your horse wins. Aside from all that, it’s just a really fun, affordable and low-risk way to experience the thrill of owning a race horse.
