During the history of the Derby, nine US Presidents have attended the race. Nixon attended the Derby in both 1968 and 1969, and he has the distinction of being the only sitting US President to attend the Kentucky Derby. This commemorative book was presented to Nixon during his visit to Churchill Downs for the 1969 Kentucky Derby, and it contains a collection of the stories of the horses and jockeys who were running in that year’s Derby.
