Start good. Won driving; second easily. ELWOOD was well ridden. Prior rated him along for the first seven furlongs and never made a move until rounding the turn into the homestretch, where he moved up on the outside and fought it out in turn with BRANCAS, PRINCE SIVERWINGS and ED TIERNEY in the last quarter, and outstayed the latter in the final drive. Dominick nursed ED TIERNEY along for the first half and made a determined effort in the stretch run, tiring in the last fifty yards. BRANCAS stumbled at the start and Lyne kept taking him back in the first half-mile, moved him up fast at the home turn and was in front for a few strides, but tired. PRINCE SILVERWINGS showed much early speed, but tired after a mile. PROCEEDS stumbled at the start but this cut no figure in the result.
