Corey J. Lanerie
Born in Lafeytte, Louisiana, Lanerie is a third generation horseman. His father was a jockey before becoming a trainer, while his grandfather also trained thoroughbreds. He began working with horses at the age of nine and would race for the first time in 1991. Lanerie focuses the majority of his time racing in Kentucky, Louisiana and Texas. He was the leading rider at all three major tracks in Texas at one point, a feat he also achieved at Churchill Downs in the fall of 2013. In 2014, he was awarded the Woolf Memorial Award by his peers.
