Joseph Talamo
Joe Talamo is a champion jockey hailing from Terrytown, Louisiana. He would drop out from high school in order to pursue his love of horse racing, and debuted a t the Louisiana Downs in June 2006 at just 16 years of age. He would become the first jockey apprentice to win at the Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans. The following season, Talamo would continue to break out with wins at the Clement L. Hirsch Turf Championship Stakes, California Cup Sprint and the Providencia Stakes. Since then it has been nothing but glory as Talamo continues to prove himself as an up and coming threat with over 1,000 wins in his young career. His only Triple Crown appearance was at the 2010 Kentucky Derby aboard Sidney’s Candy, but the pair finished 17th. He also won the 2009 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint aboard California Flag. Other notable mounts include Nashoba’s Key, Nownownownow, I Want Revenge, Melatonin and Caracortado.
