Repole Stable’s unbeaten champion Uncle Mo (#23), who scored an easy victory in his first start of the year in Saturday’s Timely Writer Stakes at Gulfstream Park, remained the favorite in Pool 2 of Churchill Downs’ Kentucky Derby Future Wager (“KDFW”) with one day of future betting to go.  But the “All Others” interest gained on the champion following surprising results in Saturday’s major prep races for the 137th Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum Brands (Grade I).

The Todd Pletcher-trained Uncle Mo was the 4-1 favorite when Saturday Derby Future betting drew to a close, but the mutuel field (#24) was a close 5-1 second choice following surprising results in the San Felipe (GII) at Santa Anita and the Tampa Bay Derby (GIII) at Tampa Bay Downs.   Premier Pegasus scored a 7 ¾-length surprise in the San Felipe at the expense of three KDFW Pool 2 betting interests: runner-up Jaycito (#10), fourth-place finisher Comma to the Top (#5) and Runflatout (#14), who finished last.  Previously unbeaten Brethren (#4) faded to third as the 1-2 favorite in the Tampa Bay Derby as Watch Me Go (43-1) and Crimson Knight (86-1) finished 1-2.

Kentucky Derby fans wagered $124,335 on the second of three days of Pool 2 betting, with $100,375 wagered to win and $23,960 in exacta betting.  The final wagering session of the three-day pool is scheduled to run from noon-6 p.m on Sunday.  Betting on the Derby Futures Pool will conclude 30 minutes prior to the end of its company Kentucky Oaks Future Wager pool, which will close at 6:30 p.m.

KDFW Pool 2 mutuel payouts on Kentucky Derby Day will be determined by the odds in place at Sunday’s close of betting at North American racetracks and off-track betting facilities, and TwinSpires.com and other advance deposit wagering outlets.

The Kentucky Derby Future Wager provides fans with opportunities to wager on potential contenders for the famed “Run for the Roses” at odds that could be much more attractive than those available on the day of America’s greatest race.  It offers win and exacta wagering, and all bets are $2 minimum wagers, and there are no refunds on any KDFW wager.  If it is determined that an individual horse has suffered an illness, injury or other circumstance that would prevent the horse from competing in Kentucky Derby, wagering on that interest will be suspended immediately.

Other horses that continue to attract solid support in KDFW Pool 2 include Holy Bull (GIII) winner Dialed In (#6) at 10-1, Jaycito (#10) at 11-1, Remsen (GII) winner To Honor and Serve (#12) at 12-1, Fountain of Youth (GII) winner Soldat (#17) at 14-1 and Runflatout (#14) and Sway Away (#19), both of whom closed at 16-1.
