Gary & Mary West's Power Broker rallied to the lead in the stretch and poured it on late in Saturday's Grade 1 Frontrunner Stakes at Santa Anita, posting a convincing victory in the first U.S. stakes race on the new "Road to the Kentucky Derby" scoring system.

Trained by Bob Baffert and ridden by Rafael Bejarano, Power Broker broke his maiden in the 1 1/16-mile test, stopping the teletimer in 1:44 2/5 on the fast track. He established himself as one of the favorites for November 3 Breeders' Cup Juvenile at Santa Anita.

Power Broker finished fourth at odds-on in his career debut, a July 28 maiden special weight on Del Mar's Polytrack, and he then recorded a third in a turf maiden special weight on August 15. By Pulpit, the Kentucky-bred chestnut colt entered the Frontrunner off a neck second in the Oak Tree Turf Juvenile on September 5.
