Ken and Sarah Ramsey's International Star squeezed through on the rail to capture Saturday's Risen Star S. (G2) at Fair Grounds, propelling himself to the top spot on the Kentucky Derby leaderboard.

The Mike Maker pupil was a decisive winner of the January 17 Lecomte (G3) in his latest, beating War Story. The Lecomte one-two filled those same placings here in the Risen Star, with International Story prevailing by a length.

By completing 1 1/16 miles on the fast track in 1:43 4/5, International Star banked 50 points toward the Kentucky Derby. That windfall gave him a chart-topping total of 71.

Runner-up War Story earned 20 points, and he now has 24 to his credit. Deep closer Keen Ice, who got up for third (10 points), has accumulated 12 points overall. Early leader St. Joe Bay was fourth (five points) and now claims a total of six.
