Saturday's $350,000 Tampa Bay Derby (G2) was all about even-money favorite Carpe Diem, who stalked the early pace before stamping his authority by five emphatic lengths.

Owned by WinStar Farm and Stonestreet Stables, the Todd Pletcher trainee negotiated 1 1/16 miles on the fast track in 1:43 3/5 and paid $4 to win. Hall of Famer John Velazquez has been aboard the colt in all four of his starts.

Carpe Diem added 50 Kentucky Derby points to his account. He had already won 14, through a romp in the Breeders' Futurity (G1) (10 points) and a second in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) (four points) last fall, so his total now stands at 64.

Ami's Flatter finished second to garner 20 points. Third-placer Divining Rod is not Triple Crown-nominated. Danzig Moon earned five points for checking in fourth.
