Qatar Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere Race History

The lone Kentucky Derby qualifier contested in France, the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere (G1) offers points on the European Road, on the 10-5-3-2-1 scale, to the top five finishers. The about seven-furlong turf race for juveniles is held on the first Sunday in October at ParisLongchamp, as part of the terrific undercard supporting Europe’s championship event, the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (G1). The Lagardere, originally called the Grand Criterium, has a rich history dating back to 1853. In 2003, it was renamed in honor of the late entrepreneur, owner/breeder, and first president of France Galop.
