Kentucky Derby, Kentucky Oaks, Derby Week & Spring Racing 2020 Ticket Information 


The 146th Kentucky Derby will be rescheduled from May 2, 2020 to September 5, 2020, and the 146th Kentucky Oaks will be rescheduled from May 1, 2020 to September 4, 2020. 

Derby Week rescheduled dates are Tuesday April 28, 2020 moving to September 1, 2020; Wednesday April 29, 2020 moving to September 2, 2020; and Thursday April 30, 2020 moving to September 3, 2020. Saturday, April 25 has been rescheduled to Saturday September 19, 2020.

Churchill Downs Racetrack will begin the 2020 spring meet without spectators during the month of May. Individual ticket holders who purchased tickets for May race dates through the Churchill Downs Sales department or Ticketmaster.com will have their tickets refunded and will receive a credit applied to their original method of payment within the next 30 to 45 days. For group buyers, your sales representative will be in contact with you to discuss options

Your Kentucky Oaks, Kentucky Derby, and Derby Week tickets purchased for the originally scheduled dates are automatically valid for the new race dates.

You may arrive on the new dates in September with your printed ticket or mobile ticket to be scanned for entry at the gates. If you ordered commemorative tickets for the Kentucky Derby and Oaks, information on a new ticket shipment date will be sent directly to ticket purchasers.

If you have purchased a ticket and are not able to attend the newly scheduled race dates, there are a couple options:

  • Post your tickets for resale through the Kentucky Derby Ticket Exchange marketplace.  Visit KentuckyDerby.com/resale for more information.
  • Request a refund through the online refund request form box below.  All refund requests must be submitted through the form link below by April 24th, 2020.  Submitting a request does not guarantee a refund or credit will be issued.

Please note that if your ticket was purchased from a vendor or secondary market website other than Churchill Downs or Ticketmaster.com, please contact that ticket provider directly as we are unable to process refunds for those tickets.

  • If I request a refund through the online request form, will it be approved?
    • Submitting a request does not guarantee a refund or credit will be issued.
    • Various factors are researched, including if a refund is permitted per the Ticketing and Admission Policy or if your ticket was not purchased directly from the Churchill Downs Racetrack.
  • May I request an account credit for my tickets to be used towards 2021 Derby Week related events?
    • When submitting a request through the online request form, select the option for account credit.
    • Submitting a request does not guarantee a refund or credit will be issued.

  • I did not purchase my tickets from Ticketmaster.com or directly from Churchill Downs Racetrack.  How do I request a refund?
    • Customers should contact the vendor or visit the vendor’s website for information from their point of purchase provider on refund and credit options.
  • I purchased a two day ticket package.  May I refund just one day?
    • No, two day package tickets are specially priced. One day may not be refunded.
  • I purchased a full box or dining table.  May I refund a couple of tickets?
    • No.  These seats are specially priced.  If you purchased a full box or dining table, you may not refund a portion of the tickets and keep the remaining. 
  • How long will it take to receive a response to my online refund request?
    • Response times are based on the volume of requests submitted and may take several weeks.  We thank you in advance for your patience as we take the time to investigate each request to ensure guest satisfaction. 
  • If approved, how long will it take to receive a refund on my credit card?
    • For tickets purchased from Churchill Downs Racetrack, customers with approved refund requests will be notified by email.  Upon refund request approval, a credit posting to your credit card statement timeline will vary based on your credit card’s financial institution.  The credit may appear on your statement as variation of Churchill Downs TM or Ticketmaster.
  • I’m still coming to the Derby in September. Do I need a new ticket?
    • Your tickets purchased for the originally scheduled dates are automatically valid for the new race dates.
    • When you arrive on the new dates in September, provide your printed ticket or mobile ticket to be scanned for entry at the gates.
  • Will my parking passes for Derby, Oaks and Derby Week still scan for entry into the parking lots?
    • Yes, your parking tickets, and if applicable hang tags, purchased for the originally scheduled dates are automatically valid for the new race dates.
  • I ordered commemorative Derby tickets and would like to use these tickets to scan for entry at the gates. When will those tickets be shipping to me?
    • Information on a commemorative Derby ticket shipment date will be sent directly to ticket purchasers.
    • We estimate that UPS will deliver the tickets in mid-August, 2020.
  • I have mobile tickets, and also ordered souvenir Derby tickets.  When will the souvenir tickets be shipping to me?
    • Souvenir tickets are printed and fulfilled after the Derby
    • Once a new shipping date is provided, an email will be sent directly to souvenir ticket purchasers.  Current estimated ship date is November 2020.  
    • Reminder that souvenir tickets are not valid for entry and do not ship until post Derby.
  • I ordered Derby Week tickets and would like to use these tickets to scan for entry at the gates.  When will those tickets be shipping to me?
    • We estimate that USPS will deliver the tickets in mid-August, 2020.
  • I purchased tickets from Derby Experiences.  Who should I contact for more information?
  • I purchased tickets from Ticketmaster.com. Who should I contact for more information?
    • Ticketmaster Customer Service may be reached at 800-653-8000.
  • I posted my tickets for resale prior to the postponed date announcement. Do I need to repost my tickets for resale?
    • Yes.  If your tickets have not yet sold on resale and you would still like to sell your tickets, you will need to repost your ticket listing.

  • I sold my tickets on the resale market prior to the postponed date announcement. What do I now need to do with my resale tickets?
    • If you resold your tickets through the Kentucky Derby Ticket Exchange by posting through My Churchill Downs Account Manager or Ticketmaster.com, you do not need to take further action.  Ownership of the tickets now belongs to the resale customer who will receive a mobile ticket for gate entry on the new racing dates.
    • If you resold your tickets through another method, contact that vendor for next steps on your resale order.
  • I purchased resale tickets prior to the postponed date announcement.  What should I do about receiving my tickets?
    • If you purchased your resale tickets through the Kentucky Derby Ticket Exchange or Ticketmaster.com, you do not need to take further action.  You will receive a mobile ticket for gate entry on the new racing dates.
    • If you purchased your tickets through another method, contact that vendor for next steps on your resale order.
  • Will Dawn at the Downs be rescheduled?
    • Yes, Dawn at the Downs will be rescheduled to align with the new dates for Derby Week. 
    • The Tuesday April 28, 2020 Dawn at the Downs event is moving to September 1, 2020; the Wednesday 29, 2020 Dawn at the Downs event is moving to September 2, 2020.
  • Will Taste of Derby be rescheduled?
    • Yes, we anticipate that Taste of Derby will be rescheduled to align with the new dates for the Kentucky Derby. Exact date to be determined.
  • I have Derby Week tickets and would like to exchange for a different race day.
    • Customers that purchased tickets from Churchill Downs or Ticketmaster.com and wish to exchange their Derby Week race day tickets for another Churchill Downs live race date should contact the Churchill Downs Sales department at 502-636-4450.
  • I purchased tickets for a live race date in May.  With the races being run without spectators, how will I receive my refund?
    •  Individual ticket holders who purchased tickets for May race dates through the Churchill Downs Sales department or Ticketmaster.com will have their tickets automatically refunded and will receive a credit applied to their original method of payment within the next 30 to 45 days.
    • For group buyers, your sales representative will be in contact with you to discuss options
    • Customers who did not purchase tickets directly from the Churchill Downs Sales department or Ticketmaster.com should contact the vendor or visit the vendor’s website for information from their point of purchase provider on refund and credit options.
  • I purchased my tickets for a May live racing date from the Churchill Downs Box Office ticket seller window.  How will I receive my refund?
    • If you purchased your tickets by credit card, a refund will automatically be applied to your account for the purchase price of the tickets within the next 30 to 45 days. 
  • I pre-purchased valet parking for a live race date in May.  With the races being run without spectators, how will I receive my refund?
    • Individual ticket holders who pre-purchased valet parking for May race dates through the Churchill Downs Sales department or Ticketmaster.com will have their valet parking tickets automatically refunded and will receive a credit applied to their original method of payment within the next 30 to 45 days. 
  • With May live racing being run without spectators, do I need to fill out an online form to request my refund?
    • No.  Since the May spectator ticketed events are cancelled, all single ticket buyers with ticket purchases through the Churchill Downs Sales department and Ticketmaster.com will be automatically refunded.
  • I have a season box plan, season suite plan, or Turf Club membership.  With May live racing being run without spectators, will I receive a refund or account credit?
    • Your Churchill Downs sales representative will be in contact with you to discuss options.
