Awesome Act blows out for Wood

| Brisnet Editorial | 04/01/2010 #

Gotham S. (G3) hero AWESOME ACT (Awesome Again) blew out a quarter-mile at Belmont Park on Thursday, putting the final touches on his preparations for Saturday's Wood Memorial (G1) at Aqueduct. Although the move was not reported on the official worktab, trainer Jeremy Noseda commented about it on his website,

"The horse seemed in good order this morning," said the English-based Noseda, who flew in to New York and supervised the work. "Unfortunately we missed our planned breeze yesterday due to the wet conditions, but he stretched out over a quarter of a mile today.

"He clocked just over 24 second for that -- which we were happy with -- and everything is set for Saturday.

"A small field of six has been declared but it is full of quality. I am happy with his draw in stall 2, but ideally I would like to have seen a little more pace in the line-up as they might not go fast enough for him."

The New York Racing Association has posted video clips of Awesome Act on the track Thursday morning, and of Wood rival ESKENDEREYA (Giant's Causeway) in his stall, on its YouTube channel -- visit

Also blowing out over Belmont's wet-fast training track was Wood entrant MOST HAPPY FELLA (Ecton Park), who went three furlongs in :36 4/5. The Bill Badgett Jr. trainee is coming off a New York-bred allowance/optional claiming score.
