Baffert captured the world’s attention after sending Silver Charm and Real Quiet to back-to-back wins in the Kentucky Derby in 1997 and 1998 followed up by War Emblem in 2002. Bob Baffert has saddled 19 horses in the Run for the Roses. He is in the Hall of Fame and has won the Eclipse Award for top trainer three times. Baffert has saddled two Kentucky Oaks winners, Silverbulletday and Plum Pretty.

From his first crop Medaglia d’Oro sired 2009 Kentucky Oaks (G1) queen Rachel Alexandra, who would be honored as that year’s Horse of the Year following an historic unbeaten campaign that included the Woodward S. (G1), Preakness S. (G1) and Haskell Invitational (G1)

That same year, a son of Medaglia d’Oro named Passion for Gold was the highweight two-year-old colt in France
