Sister Ginger became sire Student Council’s top progeny to date when taking her first stakes in the Martha Washington in an upset win at Oaklawn Park. She is part of his first crop to race.
Student Council was a very versatile runner, successfully competing on dirt, turf and synthetic over five years. His biggest wins came in the Pacific Classic and Pimlico Special Handicap, both Grade 1s.
Sister Ginger’s dam, the Silver Hawk mare Letters in Silver, raced on turf for the duration of her seven-race career, was never competitive against stakes company and only ventured outside of Calder once for her career finale.
Her immediate female family is largely European, including her fourth dam, the Group 3-winning Elegant Tern. That mare would produce Group 2 victor and sire Elegant Air and counts among her descendants Group 2 victress Elletelle.
Also of note in this line is Grade 1 scorer Winds of Thought.
