Josie Carroll became the first female trainer to capture the prestigous Queen's Plate in Canada in 2006 with Edenwold, a horse she had trained to win the Canadian Sovereign Award in 2005. She follwed that with another victory in the Queen's Plate in 2011 with the filly Inglorious. Josie began her career in 1975 as an assistant to Candian Hall of Fame trainer Mac Benson and later for Mike Doyle and Mike Tammarro before going out on her own in 1994. She has consistently been one of the leading trainers in Canada while capturing many of the top stakes races there including the EP Taylor and Woodbine Oaks. She conditioned Careless Jewell who holds the winning margin record in the G-1 Alabama Stakes at Saratoga. Other stable stars have included Tesseron, Tethra and Good and Tough.

Ivan Dalos

Owner

Ivan Dalos was born in Budapest, Hungary, but now resides in Toronto, Canada, and is a partner in a construction business that installs wood flooring.  Dalos was first introduced to horse racing by a friend in 1986, and the first race horse he owned finished 27 lengths back in last place.  Of Ami's Holiday, Dalos says, "It's everybody's dream to  have a horse like this, and once in awhile it comes true."

Pedigree

Aragorn Ami is by multiple Grade 1-winning turf millionaire Aragorn, who never finished worse than second in nine U.S. starts. The Irish-bred stallion began his career in his native country and tried some English tracks, but never really blossomed until shipping stateside.

Here, Aragorn five graded events and ran second in the Breeders’ Cup Mile while banking more than $1.5 million.

The 12-year-old sire  hasn’t really taken off at stud in regards to stakes winners, with his best offspring being three-time black-type victor Paco Smart, but that could all change with Aragorn Ami.

The filly is out of the unraced Victory Gallop mare Galloping Ami, who is a half-sister to stakes heroine Victorious Ami. That mare is the dam of Grade 3 scorer Ami’s Holiday.

A more in depth look of Aragorn Ami’s pedigree reveals her female family includes champion Raise a Native.
