Highly-regarded three-year-old THE FACTOR (War Front) smoked seven furlongs in a bullet 1:24 2/5 over Hollywood Park's Cushion Track on Monday, punching his ticket to the San Vicente S. (G2) at Santa Anita on Sunday.
The Bob Baffert pupil, who broke his maiden by 8 1/4 lengths in track-record time at Santa Anita on December 26, was battling foot issues last month. As a result, the gray colt shifted base to Hollywood. The Factor was recording his second drill since renewing residence here, having blazed six furlongs in 1:12 last Tuesday.
Three other San Vicente contenders turned in works on Santa Anita's fast track on Monday.
Grade 1-placed INDIAN WINTER (Indian Charlie), who got up in time in the San Pedro S. in his sophomore debut, motored five furlongs in :59 4/5.
Multiple Group/Grade 3-placed SURREY STAR (Ire) (Dubawi) zipped in :59 2/5 for his dirt debut in the San Vicente. He is coming off a third in the grassy Generous S. (G3) in his U.S. premiere.
OAKCREST DRIVE (Arch), fifth when stretching out and trying turf in the Eddie Logan S., finished up in 1:01 1/5.
