MERIDIAN was rushed into a long lead from the start, and after having disposed of ROUND THE WORLD and other serious contenders in the first three-quarters, had enough speed in reserve at the end to outstay the fast coming GOVERNOR GRAY. The latter was allowed to drop too far back in the first half, and, coming with a great rush in the last quarter, was going fastest at the end. COLSTON outstayed MUD SILL for third place. ROUND THE WORLD tired in the last quarter. MUD SILL finished fast. Scratched - Jabot, Ramazan, Captain Carmody.
