KENTUCKY ROSES: THE ALL NEW HALLMARK ORIGINAL MOVIE

Kentucky Roses

This Derby Day, Hallmark Channel brings you trackside with Kentucky Roses, a new original movie shot at the one and only Churchill Downs. Set to premiere May 2, 2026 (Derby Day) at 8/7c on Hallmark Channel, and stream the next day on Hallmark+, Kentucky Roses is a heartfelt love story that brings the spirit of the Run for the Roses® straight to your living room. The Kentucky Roses cast features Andrew Walker (Three Wisest Men, The Reluctant Royal), Odette Annable (Supergirl, Walker), Ally Ledford (His Nerd), Peyton Meyer (Girl Meets World, Days of Our Lives), Brynn Thayer (Fatal Attraction, Suits), and Gregg Henry (Gilmore Girls, Guardians of the Galaxy).

Kentucky Roses unfolds across two timelines, present day and 1932. Sadie Moore (Odette Annable) works in the Churchill Downs greenhouse with dreams of designing the iconic garland of roses that crowns the Derby champion, just like her great-grandmother did nearly a century earlier. Then, Sadie crosses paths with Ash Taylor (Andrew Walker), the son of the Churchill Downs CEO (Gregg Henry), who’s been tasked with an emergency repair on the Twin Spires after it’s damaged in a storm. While Sadie and Ash come from two different worlds, they each share a similar weight of familial expectations and legacy, and the desire to build a future on their own terms. As Derby Day draws closer and romance begins to blossom, a long-buried connection between their families complicates their relationship and history is threatened to repeat itself.

The Real Kentucky Derby Experience

In both present and past timelines, the Hallmark original movie Kentucky Roses captures the authentic excitement of Derby Day and the tradition of Churchill Downs. The movie features Derby Day staples like the iconic rose garland presentation, the historic Twin Spires, and of course, the racetrack and property grounds of Churchill Downs that true fans will recognize. It also pays homage to signature Kentucky Derby fashion and the styles you’d spot in the stands. Throughout the film you’ll see fashion statements like extravagant wide-brimmed hats, colorful fascinators, floral sundresses, tailored suits, and statement bow ties.
