Who is Bottle of Rouge?

Bottle of Rouge is a gray filly born in 2023 with a 'royal' family tree in the racing world. Her father is Vino Rosso, a champion who won the famous Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1). Her mother is Blues Corner, a daughter of Bluegrass Cat. This mix of parents gives her a great balance of speed and the ability to keep running for a long time. She was sold for $100,000 as a yearling, showing that experts saw her potential early on.

What Matters

For fans and handicappers, Bottle of Rouge is a standout because of her 'will to win.' She has won four out of six career starts, including the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante and the Sunland Park Oaks. She is currently ranked as one of the top fillies on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks. Her ability to stalk the leaders and then 'uncork' a big run in the final stretch makes her incredibly exciting to watch.

Caution

While she is very fast, she can be a bit unpredictable. In the Sunland Park Oaks, she veered sharply in the stretch, which caused an official review by the judges. Additionally, she finished 6th in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) when facing the very best in her class last year. Handicappers should watch to see if she can keep a straight path and handle the pressure of a massive 14-horse field at Churchill Downs.
