Caution

The biggest question mark for Lorelei Lee is the surface. All of her career starts and workouts have been on the all-weather surface at Turfway Park. She has never raced on dirt, which is the surface used for the Kentucky Oaks. While her trainer, Michael Maker, believes she will handle the transition well because her brother did, handicappers should be cautious. Racing on dirt requires different footing, and some horses who dominate on 'synthetic' tracks struggle when they move to the traditional dirt at Churchill Downs.
