In a battle of unbeatens in the $557,450 Alcibiades (G1) at Keeneland on Friday, Emphatic pulled off a minor surprise over odds-on favorite Summer Starlet in the 1 1/16-mile test for two-year-old fillies.

Under Tyler Gaffalione, Emphatic broke on top from the inside post, set the pace while Spinaway (G1) winner Summer Starlet closely tracked, and repelled a challenge from that rival through the final quarter mile. Emphatic extended her lead to 1 1/4 lengths at the finish, finishing up in 1:43.40 over a fast track.

Owned by Gainesway Stable and Andrew Rosen, the Brendan Walsh-trained Emphatic paid $8.78 as the third choice.

The top pair left the remainder of the field in the dust around the far turn. At the finish, Summer Starlet had a 17 1/2-length advantage over third-place Oh She Said Yes, who was followed by Ever Forward, Forever Carina, High Speed Reed, and For the Money.

Emphatic earned 10 qualifying points toward the 2027 Kentucky Oaks (G1), while Summer Starlet earned five points, Oh She Said Yes three points, Ever Forward two points, and Forever Carina one point.

Emphatic preceded her Alcibiades success with a 6 3/4-length maiden win at Colonial Downs going six furlongs and a 5 1/4-length decision in the one-mile Sorority S. at Monmouth Park.

Emphatic, a Kentucky-bred, is by Nyquist and out of Convinced, a daughter of Tiznow. She hails from the family of champion sprinter Rubiano as well as noted sire Tapit.
