Justify lives up to favoritism in Kentucky Derby 144

Justify prevailed over both champion Good Magic and the sloppy main track at Churchill Downs on Saturday when scoring in the 2018 Kentucky Derby (G1) for trainer Bob Baffert.
Jockey Mike Smith guided the chestnut son of Scat Daddy in the 1 1/4-mile affair, tracking the early pace set by Promises Fulfilled. Justify took over in the lane and repelled a bid from Good Magic to finish 1 1/4 miles in 2:04.20.
Good Magic took second over Audible while Instilled Regard and My Boy Jack completed the top five.
