WinStar Farm, First Go Racing, and CHC, Inc.’s three-year-old colt Class President moved to the lead in the stretch and held off a serious late challenge when posting a win by a nose in the $1 million Rebel (G2) at Oaklawn Park on March 1. The Todd Pletcher trainee completed the 1 1/16-mile race on the dirt in 1:43.21 with John Velazquez in the saddle. With the victory, the winner also banked 50 qualifying points on the 2026 Road to the Kentucky Derby challenge series leaderboard, too.

The next four across the wire were Silent Tactic, Litmus Test, Blackout Time, and Soldier N Diplomat, and those runners earned qualifying points towards the Kentucky Derby on a 25-15-10-5 scale, respectively.

'I was very proud of him,' said jockey John Velazquez. 'It was his first time going two turns, and the other horse (Silent Tactic) hit him that time I got close to him again, and Class President came back at him.'

Class President improved his lifetime mark to 3-2-1-0 after the win, and his earnings now stand at $593,700. He debuted running one mile on the dirt at Gulfstream Park on Dec. 27 and pulled away in the stretch to post a stylish, 3 1/4-length win on that day. In his second career race, the horse was a clear second in the Swale S. at that same track behind Solitude Dude, who finished a fine third in the Fountain of Youth (G2) at Gulfstream Park on Feb. 28.

The son of Uncle Mo was bred by part-owner WinStar Farm. He was produced from the Quality Road mare named Top Quality, who won three stakes races at Emerald Downs in her racing career. This is the same female family responsible for Grade-2 winning millionaire Concerto, who finished 9th in the 1997 Kentucky Derby.

Class President has earned Brisnet Speed ratings of 87-93-93 from his three lifetime races to date. The bay colored colt has closed with excellent energy in each of his races so far and looks like the kind of horse who will continue to improve as the distances increase as he gets more experience going forward.
