Joseph P. Morey Jr. Revocable Trust’s Hush of a Storm earned 10 points on the 2021 Road to the Kentucky Derby series following his 1 1/2-length score in the John Battaglia Memorial at Turfway Park on Feb. 26. The three-year-old completed 1 1/16 miles on the Polytrack in 1:44 under Santiago Gonzalez.

Trained by William Morey, the colt picked up his third straight win to improve his lifetime line to 4-3-0-0, $65,985. The bay debuted on Nov. 19 at Churchill Downs in a seven-furlong dirt event and was a non-factor following a slow start, checking in eighth. He graduated second time out with a 5 3/4-length romp at Turfway on December 19, and made good in his sophomore bow on the surface when defeating allowance runners on Jan. 6.

He was bred in the Empire State by Berkshire Stud and went through public auction on a pair of occasions. The son of Creative Cause brought $60,000 at the 2019 Fasig-Tipton New York Bred Yearling Sale prior to fetching a final bid of $75,000 at the 2020 OBS Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training.

Hush of a Storm is the first foal produced by the winning Flatter mare Hush Now, who is a full-sister to stakes victor Brigand as well as a half-sister to stakes star Sky Music.

Hush of a Storm has registered Brisnet Speed figures of 65-85-85-90 from a quartet of career outings. While the youngster is on a roll at Turfway, he doesn’t appear to be a major contender on the Triple Crown Trail at this stage of his development. He has to get faster and he is not proven to be capable of running well on the dirt so far. In addition, Hush of a Storm doesn’t boast a very strong catalog page to endure classic distances against the top horses in his crop.
