A small but strong six-horse field has entered Saturday’s $175,000 Monomoy Girl S. at Churchill Downs.

The 1 1/16-mile dirt race for three-year-old fillies has drawn 2024 champion two-year-old filly Immersive as well as Kentucky Oaks (G1) starters Take Charge Milady and Anna’s Promise.

Let’s review the entries in horse-by-horse fashion:

Princess Aliyah

Jockey: Nik Juarez

Top Speed Rating: (92) when winning an Oaklawn Park maiden special weight.
Total Earnings: $228,680

Sire: Into Mischief
Dam: Silver Colors
Color: Gray/roan

Princess Aliyah won the Valley Of The Vapors S. at Oaklawn Park earlier this spring, but she’s yet to finish better than sixth in three tries against graded stakes competition. Since the Monomoy Girl has drawn a graded stakes-caliber field, the level of competition might be a little stiff for Princess Aliyah.

Immersive

Owner: Godolphin

Jockey: Manny Franco

Top Speed Rating: (99) when winning the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) at Del Mar.
Total Earnings: $1,622,700

Sire: Nyquist
Dam: Gap Year
Color: Bay

Reigning champion two-year-old filly Immersive is undefeated in four starts, including triumphs in the Spinaway (G1), Alcibiades (G1), and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1). She took time off during the winter and spring due to bone bruising and missed the Kentucky Oaks as a result, but six timed workouts since the beginning of May should have Immersive ready for a competitive performance in the Monomoy Girl.

Anna’s Promise

Owner: Bell Racing
Breeder: Baron Thoroughbreds
Trainer: Carlos David
Jockey: Luis Saez

Top Speed Rating: (92) when finishing second in the Gulfstream Park Oaks (G2) at Gulfstream Park.
Total Earnings: $192,254

Sire: Promises Fulfilled
Dam: Caroline Lois
Color: Chestnut

After finishing second in the Gulfstream Park Oaks (G2), Anna’s Promise performed respectably in the Kentucky Oaks (G1), tracking the pace in third place before weakening to finish fifth in a large field. She brings strong Brisnet Speed ratings to the Monomoy Girl and has a big chance to win, especially if Immersive is short of peak fitness in her first start of the year.

Minnesota Munny

Trainer: Kelsey Danner
Jockey: Adam Beschizza

Top Speed Rating: (83) when winning a Turfway Park maiden special weight.
Total Earnings: $90,384

Sire: Munnings
Dam: Blue Union Rags
Color: Chestnut

Minnesota Munny is stepping up in class after winning a $75,000 allowance optional claimer at Delaware Park. She’s progressing in the right direction, but her career-best 83 Brisnet Speed rating looks light against the Monomoy Girl field.

Running Away

Top Speed Rating: (88) when winning the Busanda S. at Aqueduct.
Total Earnings: $266,250

Sire: Gun Runner
Dam: Allez Marie
Color: Chestnut

Running Away has won three of her last four starts in gate-to-wire fashion, most recently trouncing the Horseshoe Indianapolis H. by 4 1/2 lengths. She figures to set the pace in the Monomoy Girl and may be able to last for a top-three finish.

Take Charge Milady

Owner: James Ball, Magdalena Racing, and Kenneth Rhodes
Breeder: Merriebelle Stable
Trainer: Kenny McPeek
Jockey: Brian Hernandez Jr.

Top Speed Rating: (91) when finishing second in the Ashland (G1) at Keeneland.
Total Earnings: $431,469

Sire: Take Charge Indy
Dam: Price too High
Color: Dark bay/brown

Take Charge Milady has struggled with consistency and exits a 12th-place finish in the Kentucky Oaks. But on her best day, she’s a force to reckon with. She crushed the Martha Washington S. by 5 3/4 lengths during the winter and ran second in the Ashland (G1) two starts back. Either of those efforts would make Take Charge Milady a win threat in the Monomoy Girl, and sharp workouts since the Kentucky Oaks suggest she’s ready to bring her A game.
