Who is Resist?

Resist is a dark bay/brown filly born February 17, 2023. Her father is Maclean's Music, a champion turf racer. Her mother is Bahama Babe. She was bred in Kentucky by Military Pike Racing Stables and is trained by Thomas Drury Jr. Jockey Irving Moncada rides her in all her races. She's owned by Military Pike Racing Stables (Donald R. Todd).

The Good News

Resist is a winner! She has won 2 out of 4 races. She won her first race on December 19, 2025, at Turfway Park (6½ furlongs on synthetic) and won her second race on January 22, 2026, at Turfway Park (1 mile on synthetic). She's been entered in quality stakes races and finished third in two recent stakes: Cincinnati Trophy S. (February 20) and Bourbonette Oaks (March 21). She earned $165,066 in just four races.

What Matters

Resist comes from great racing bloodlines through her father, Maclean's Music. She's improved with every start, showing career-high speed ratings as she gets more experience. She stays with the same jockey, which helps them work together better. Her synthetic surface experience shows she knows how to race strategically.

The Caution

Here's the BIG problem: Resist has NEVER raced on dirt. All four of her races have been on Turfway Park's synthetic (artificial) surface. The Kentucky Oaks is run on dirt at Churchill Downs. She's also never raced at 1 1/8 miles—the distance required for the Oaks. She only has experience at 6½ furlongs and 1 mile. If she can't adapt to dirt racing, she won't be competitive in the Oaks.

The Bottom Line

Resist shows promise on synthetic surfaces but is completely unproven on dirt. The Kentucky Oaks surface change presents a major unknown.
