Overview

Seven years after finishing second in the Kentucky Derby with Lookin At Lee, L and N Racing hope Track Phantom can be the horse to do one better for them.

L and N Racing – made up of Lee, Michael, and Andy Levinson, and Don Nelson, all from Oklahoma – bought Track Phantom for $500,000 at the Keeneland September sale. Track Phantom’s breeder Mike Hall of Breeze Easy retains a share, while other partners are Clark Brewster and Jerry Caroom.

Track Phantom is by the highly successful stallion Quality Road, who though yet to produce a Kentucky Derby winner, has sired Preakness (G1) victor National Treasure. He is the first foal of Miss Sunset, by Into Mischief, who won the seven-furlong Raven Run (G3) among 10 victories.

Miss Sunset’s sprinting prowess makes her an unlikely dam of a horse that will stay 1 1/4 miles in the Kentucky Derby, but Into Mischief has sired two Derby winners so Track Phantom’s stamina potential should not be dismissed without evidence.
