He Is No Lie

He is No Lie nearly pulled off the upset in the Iroquois. Sent off at 9-2, the Doug O'Neill trainee stalked in second under Joel Rosario and took over around the three-quarter mark. He was collared only in the final furlong and lost by a half-length to the favorite Salahudin. 'I thought he ran a really good race today,' Rosario said. 'Down the stretch I thought I could get the job done but (Salahudin) kept coming at us and got us late.' He arrived with a win and a second from three starts and $91,950 in earnings, and he handled the step up to a mile while carrying his speed. He races for Purple Rein Racing and Mark Davis. The Kentucky-bred is from the first crop of Preakness winner Early Voting. His dam, Truth in the Lies, by Hold Me Back, was twice stakes-placed. He was bred by Pope McLean, Marc McLean and Pope McLean Jr.
