Final Gambit stamped himself in the starting gate for the Kentucky Derby with an authoritative victory in Saturday’s $777,000 Jeff Ruby Steaks (Grade III), the richest race in the history of Turfway Park.

The Road to the Kentucky Derby that began last September is heating up with the approach of spring, culminating in the 151st “Run for the Roses” on May 3.

From the sire line of 1990 Kentucky Derby (G1) champion Unbridled, Burnham Square also has Derby-winning sires on his mother’s side.
